Renewal of the Matlab contract has completed and licensing for Matlab for 2021 is now available. To renew an existing Matlab license follow the steps at Update Your License.

Due to the discontinuation of the underlying platforms on which they were built, the Software Eligibility Tool and the SPSS License Request Tools requiered a rebuild. The tools have been rebuilt and the links on the Software@Berkeley website have been updated to point to the new instances.

Microsoft Office products and Office 365 online services will now use CAS to login. At 8 pm on November 17, 2020, the login page for Sharepoint, Office 365, and Azure will change to the standard CalNet login screen (CAS).

Extended access to campus licensed software, including Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office, and Zoom, was granted temporarily to students who graduated in spring 2020 due to COVID-19.
Starting July 31st, spring 2020 graduates will no longer be able to use the licenses as they will be reassigned to incoming students for fall semester. All spring 2020 graduates who are no longer eligible for campus licensed software will be contacted with a list of options for obtaining software.
Adobe is partnering with eligible schools (including UC Berkeley) to provide its recent graduates with four months of complimentary access to Creative Cloud.

Currently active JMP software will continue to be accessible through the middle of July due to a 90-day grace period.
Current License Holders
If you currently have a JMP license please do not submit any renewal requests for JMP licenses for 2020-21 at this time. The bConnected and ServiceNow teams are working to automate the licensing process. Once automated, faculty, staff and students will be able to access JMP licensing in self-service fashion eliminating the delays associated with manual processing.

Every Windows product has a lifecycle and that lifecycle ends when it no longer receives security updates or fixes, software updates, and/or technical support. On Jan. 14, 2020 Microsoft will discontinue support for the Windows 7 Operating System. Without security, patches these systems will be easy targets for hackers, malware, and viruses.

The Cisco Anyconnect VPN client has been replaced with the bSecure Remote Access VPN client based on the GlobalProtect application from Palo Alto Networks. Currently installed Cisco clients will continue to work through September 30, 2019. It is highly recommended that current installs of the Cisco Anyconnect VPN client be uninstalled and the bSecure VPN client installed at the earliest opportunity to avoid a lapse in service.
One question we often receive from new Students is, "when can I start using the software?" Software eligibility is linked to registration status. The registration process does take some time and must complete, and status must be updated to reflect an eligible affiliation ("Registered Student"), before most software can be downloaded and activated.
