Contrary to what was communicated to IS&T, UCB SPSS licenses expired unexpectedly on Februaury 1st. The license expiration date was reported to be extended through March 31, 2016 to allow time to transition to the new System-wide license model.

If your SPSS license has stopped working, please submit the 2016 SPSS License Request form and a new activation key will be provided.

In response to potential securtiy vulnerabilities the Berkeley Finance System (BFS) and other ancillary systems have been temporarily taken offline. The offlining of these systems affects the ability for Software Central to validate Chart of Account (COA) chartstrings used in some purchases of SAS, JMP and SPSS licenses. Purchases of SAS/JMP/SPSS* (*non-Funding Partner affiliates) using a COA chartstring will be delayed until the BFS and related systems are back on-line. Current estimate for return of service is Wednesday, Jan 6th.

Software Central will be closed in late Dec. through early Jan. due to the semester break, University holidays, and campuswide energy curtailment.

Requests submitted in the later half of the week ending 12/18/15 may not be responded to/processed until early January.

On Thursday, August 27, 2015, Software Central adopted the ServiceNow platform for Incident Management and Generic Service Request as part of Cohort 1 of the IST-ServiceNow Project. This migration is part of a large-scale project to consolidate approximately 35 FootPrints and other ticketing queues currently used for Incident Management and Generic Service Request in IST.

SAS has announced the release of version 12 of JMP and JMPPro software. The software is now available for download from Software Central/JMP.

The JMP Academic Suite Licenses for the 2105-16 license cycle are now available, and at a reduced price. Thanks to increased demand across the UC system the cost of a single JMP license dropped from $39 to $27. Though the latest release JMP 12 has been announced, SAS has halted distribution for an inderminate time. JMP 11.2 for both Mac and Windows can be downloaded from the Software Central JMP webpage.

UC Berkeley has renewed its Mathematica Unlimited site-wide license agreement with Wolfram Research Institute for an additional three years. The agreement still allows for the use of WRI's Mathematica software on UCB-owned computers by Faculty, Staff and Students, but extends usage rights on UCB computers to Visitng Scholars and Researchers and full-time Contractors.

UC Berkeley now offers Adobe's Creative Cloud suite of applications including Acrobat XI. UCB Faculty, Staff and Students may redeem the Creative Cloud Redemption Coupon, available at https://ucbwah.onthe, and activate their CC subscription. Once subscribed, exisiting installs of Acrobat XI may be re-activated by launching the application, then clicking on Help>Sign In and signing in with your Adobe ID.

UC Berkeley has completed the agreement with Adobe to provide the Adobe Creative Cloud software at no cost to individual faculty, staff, and students at UCB. Creative Cloud will replace the current offering of Creative Suite 6. Work is underway to begin distributing the software by the end of September 2014.
