Update: Kivuto Services Development Team located the bug that was causing access to the Adobe Software tab to fail. A hotfix was applied and Kivuto now reports that the access is resored and the website is stable. If you notice any strange behavior when accessing the site, please send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org with details of the observed behavior.

UC Berkeley IS&T and The Mathworks, providers of Matlab, have agreed to an addendum to the Matlab Total Academic Headcount (TAH) Agreement providing limited licensing to Third Parties. The addendum provides Matlab licensing “solely for the purpose of academic course work and teaching, noncommercial academic research, and personal use which is not for any commercial or other organizational use” on UCB-owned computers to Third-Parties for the duration of their affiliation with the University.

The JMP Academic Suite Licenses for the 2106-17 license cycle are now available. Thanks to increased demand across the UC system the cost of a single JMP license has dropped for a second consecuative year. The cost for a single user license is down from $27 to $25. JMP/JMP Pro for both Mac and Windows can be downloaded from the Software Central JMP webpage.

Contrary to what was communicated to IS&T, UCB SPSS licenses expired unexpectedly on Februaury 1st. The license expiration date was reported to be extended through March 31, 2016 to allow time to transition to the new System-wide license model.
If your SPSS license has stopped working, please submit the 2016 SPSS License Request form and a new activation key will be provided.

In response to potential securtiy vulnerabilities the Berkeley Finance System (BFS) and other ancillary systems have been temporarily taken offline. The offlining of these systems affects the ability for Software Central to validate Chart of Account (COA) chartstrings used in some purchases of SAS, JMP and SPSS licenses. Purchases of SAS/JMP/SPSS* (*non-Funding Partner affiliates) using a COA chartstring will be delayed until the BFS and related systems are back on-line. Current estimate for return of service is Wednesday, Jan 6th.

Though the latest release JMP 12 has been announced, SAS has halted distribution for an inderminate time. JMP 11.2 for both Mac and Windows can be downloaded from the Software Central JMP webpage.

UC Berkeley has renewed its Mathematica Unlimited site-wide license agreement with Wolfram Research Institute for an additional three years. The agreement still allows for the use of WRI's Mathematica software on UCB-owned computers by Faculty, Staff and Students, but extends usage rights on UCB computers to Visitng Scholars and Researchers and full-time Contractors.
