Instructions

Registered students do not need to request a license.

As of October 30, 2023, incoming faculty, staff, and eligible affiliates who intend to use Microsoft 365 Apps will need to request a license. 

If you are currently using Microsoft Office, no further steps are required. However, if you previously claimed a license but have not used Microsoft Office within the last year, you will need to claim a new license. 

To use Microsoft 365 Apps, you must:

  1. Activate Microsoft 365 Apps license  (use @berkeley.edu address)
  2. If you don’t already have it installed, install Microsoft 365 Apps 
  3. Sign in with @berkeley.edu address (choose “Company or School Account”)

Download Microsoft 365 Software

365 is available for instruction, research, class work and non-commercial personal use. 

You can install Office on all your devices and sign in to Office on five devices at the same time. This includes any combination of PCs, Macs, tablets, and phones.

System requirements

Note: UC Berkeley licensed MS software must be uninstalled from personally-owned devices upon separation from the university.

Office 365

Microsoft 365 Apps is a collection of services that includes access to Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint.  It comes with access to the latest features, security patches, and fixes.

UC Berkeley's Microsoft Apps for Enterprise offering does NOT include:

  • OneDrive
  • OneNote
  • Exchange Online
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Microsoft Forms
  • PowerApps
  • Microsoft Stream
  • Office Scripts

Office add-ins are not enabled due to technical, and financial limitations.
