Microsoft 365 Apps is a collection of services that includes access to Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint. It comes with access to the latest features, security patches, and fixes.
Eligibility
Registered students, faculty, staff and certain affiliates are eligible for Microsoft 365 Apps. View your Software and Services Eligibility.
Getting Started
Registered students do not need to request a license.
As of October 30, 2023, incoming faculty, staff, and eligible affiliates who intend to use Microsoft 365 Apps will need to request a license. If you are currently using Microsoft Office, no further steps are required. However, if you previously claimed a license but have not used Microsoft Office within the last year, you will need to claim a new license.
- Activate Microsoft 365 Apps license (use @berkeley.edu address)
- Install Microsoft 365 if you don’t have it installed already (Desktop Instructions | Mobile Instructions)
- Sign in with @berkeley.edu address (choose “Company or School Account”)

Note: UC Berkeley licensed MS software must be uninstalled from personally-owned devices upon separation from the university.
